FOTE is an electronic optical instrument, a combination of a laser source, and a detector and is used to characterize optical fiber. FOTE accesses only one end of the fiber and makes multiple measurements, which are used to reveal defects and faults, and to determine the amount of signal loss at any point in a single optical fiber or complete network.
