Autopilot systems operate, control, and monitor aircraft without constant supervision by the pilot. They consist of four major components: computer systems, actuators, gyros, and GPS. Computer systems allow pilots to program the autopilot system, helps them interact with the GPS and gyros, and transfers the information to an actuator. Autopilot systems enhance a pilot’s aircraft control capabilities and boost efficiency in auto-mode, thus, reducing overall operating costs.
