About Polyisobutylene
PIB is a vinyl polymer similar to polyethylene and polypropylene in structure. It is an elastic, rubbery, semi-solid or viscous substance that ranges from colorless to light yellow. It is also odorless and tasteless.
In PIB, every other carbon is substituted with two methyl groups. PIB is made from isobutylene through cationic vinyl polymerization. It is manufactured in different forms, such as conventional PIB and HR-PIB.
