About SONAR system
A SONAR system works on using the same technology that is used by animals such as dolphins and bats for detecting objects. The technology was first recorded by Leonardo da Vinci in 1490, but intense research on it started after the Titanic mishap. During the World War I, the need to detect submarines fueled more research for SONAR system development. A SONAR system is divided into two types: active and passive. Active SONAR system is mostly used for civilian purposes like oil exploration activities, fishing, and hydrographic and nautical charting activities. Passive SONAR system is used for military activities.
