A touch panel is a two-dimensional sensing device that comes in the form of a transparent sheet, which is integrated into devices for providing a sensing and feedback system. Touch panels consist of multiple layers that track and convert movements on screen into electrical signals, which are then sent to the processor to perform the required action on the device. These touch panels require three basic components to provide a touch interface: touch sensor, controller integrated circuit (IC), and software driver. The touch sensor is important as it forms the interface between the display and user. In addition, most R&D centers in display technologies focus on touch sensors to enhance touch sensitivity.
