Nicaragua has been an expanding market for cigarettes over the past 22 years, with sales having almost doubled to 2.5 billion pieces. This is a market dominated by BAT, its supplies coming from Honduras; there is no local production. PMI has, however, been gaining share - which was up to 14.5% in 2012 - its supplies all coming from Guatemala, although they will be sourced from elsewhere in the region from 2013 onwards following the closure of PMI's Guatemalan operation.
