Summary
Qingdao Airport Group (QAG) and Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) a ministry-level organization responsible for national civil aviation affairs is undertaking an international airport development project in Qingdao, Shandong, China.

The project involves the construction of terminals with floor area of 600,000m2, a 3,600m runway, a 3,200m runway, two 2,200m parallel remote runways, hangars, taxiways, retail facilities, an aircraft maintenance center, an air traffic control tower, waiting lounges, control rooms, office facilities, parking facilities and other related facilities, installation of security systems.

In February 2014, Atkins and China Southwest Architectural Design and Research Institute (CSWADI) was appointed as the conceptual planning and terminal designer. The scope covers all design aspects including master planning, airfield design, transport planning, landscaping and water engineering.

Qingjian Group Co Ltd and China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp. Ltd were appointed as a construction contractor.

Construction activities are underway and expected to complete by the end of 2019.
