Summary
The Cheshire County Council (CCC) is planning to build a link road in Cheshire, the UK.

The project involves the construction of a 5.5km link road that includes the construction of road lanes, access roads, bridges, service roads, intersections and the installation of signaling and safety systems.

A traffic survey was undertaken from November 2012 to April 2013 to determine routes for the project.

In the first quarter of 2013, an environmental impact assessment report was prepared.

In the second quarter of 2013, a technical appraisal was undertaken for the proposed route options.

In the third quarter of 2013, public consultation activities initiated.

In July 2014, CCC received US$77 million from Government’s Local Growth Fund and the remaining will come from private sector contribution.

The US$30 million of the total project cost will be funded by the Central Government.

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has been appointed as a design consultant.

On March 31, 2016, the project secured US$8 million by the council, Department for Transport (DFT) will contribute US$64 million from the Cheshire and Warrington Growth Deal, US$34 million is expected from the developers and US$23 million is from the council.

In June 2016, the project received in principle planning approval and final approval is awaited.

As of November 2016, CCC commenced the land acquisition process.

On July 17, 2017, CCC issued a tender to appoint a design-build contractor with a submission deadline on August 21, 2017.

In March 2018, the project secured planning approvals from Cheshire East Council.

The project work is expected to commence in November 2018 and is scheduled to complete in the fourth quarter of 2020.
