About LAB
Linear alkyl benzene or LAB is a colorless detergent alkylate produced from kerosene feedstock. It is produced as an intermediate chemical while manufacturing certain surfactants. It is an organic compound having good optical transparency and high light yield. LAB is mainly used in the production of linear alkyl sulfonate or LAS and the remainder is used for niche applications such as agricultural herbicides, ink solvents, paints, and electric cable oil,. LAB is also used in neutrino detectors as a liquid scintillator.
