About Motorcycle Cruise Control A motorcycle cruise control is an electronic component that monitors motorcycle speed by monitoring engine revolutions per minute (RPM) to maintain a constant set speed. The cruise control is made up of three main components: Servo unit, throttle cable, and associated wiring. It uses the speed signal from vehicle speed sensor (VSS) in case of an electronic speedometer or monitor engine RPM through an electrical connection made to the ignition coil. When cruise control is engaged by pressing the set button at a desired speed, it will set that speed such that the motorcycle will travel at the set speed consistently till disengaged. Cruise control can be disengaged automatically as well as manually. It disengages automatically when the front or rear brake is applied, or clutch is disengaged by the driver. Manually it can be disengaged by simply turning off the switch. The consistent speed allows the engine to burn fuel efficiently and offers comfort and control over speed limits set.
