PBT is a saturated polyester that is mainly obtained from butanediol (BDO) and terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate (DMT). It is extensively used in the polymers and plastics industry because it offers high-performance blends like polyethylene terephthalate (PET), acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA), and others. PBT offers a valuable combination of high technical properties and good dimensional stability because of its properties of low water absorption, high stiffness, and excellent resistance to heat.
