Stepper motors work in an open loop system; they offer low torque option and provide high initial torque when compared with servo motors. Their cost is low and they require less cabling, which helps in easy integration. Stepper motors work in open loop without any encoders; as they move in steps, the electrical signal specifies the number of steps to move across.
