Ultrasonic flowmeters use ultrasound waves to measure and monitor fluid flows. These devices do not obstruct fluid flows in any manner, and so they can be used to measure sanitary, corrosive, and abrasive fluid flows. These flowmeters are widely used for custody transfer of natural gas across end-users such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, and chemicals. Ultrasonic flowmeters are mainly divided into three types based on the type of mounting: spool-piece, clamp-on, and insertion.
