On February 25, 2014, La Porte Independent School District Board of Trustees ordered a bond election for a US$263 million investment in district-wide improvements.

In December 22, 2014, La Porte ISD issued tenders for the selecting sub-contractor for two packages.

Package One includes site and civil works, including the construction of softball and tennis complex, practice fields, and cooling tower-central plant retrofit.

Package Two includes select trades earthwork for building pads, building concrete foundations, and structural steel.

In August 2015, 10% construction activities were completed.

In March 2016, 35% construction activities were completed.
