Summary
The Ministry of Railways (MoR) is undertaking construction of a rail coach factory in Karnataka, India.

The project involves the construction of a rail coach factory to manufacture fiat bogies for LHB design coaches on 60.70ha of land to build 250 coaches annually. It is being developed in four phases.

The project includes the construction of a coach manufacturing unit, an embedded track, a finishing shop, a welding unit and other related infrastructure and the installation of electric supply systems, water supply systems and heavy cranes.

MoR appointed Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES Limited) to undertake consultation works for the project.

The project is being developed by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL).

On February 16, 2014, the foundation stone was laid on the first phase of the project.

In March 2015, the project secured US$0.78 million fund and further the project will receive funding of US$10 million.

In June 2015, construction works on the project commenced and are underway with completion scheduled by 2017.
