The project involves the construction of two four-lane tunnels from 1/040 km to 2 /790 km (1.75 km) and 3/440 to 12/360 (8.92 km). It includes the construction of sidewalls and ventilation shafts, and the installation of traffic signals and sign boards.
The tunnel is being constructed using drilling & blasting method.
On December 5, 2016, MSRDC issued a tender for Request for Qualification (RFQ) with a submission deadline of January 7, 2016.
On February 27, 2017, RFQ application submitted to MSRDC.
The Pre-qualified bidders are: China Railway 11th Bureau Group Co Ltd, China Gezhouba Group Company Limited, IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd, Navayuga Engineering Co Ltd, SK Engineering & Construction Co Ltd, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., Gulermak AS and Isolux Corsan India Engineering & Construction Pvt Ltd.
On 15 March 2018, MSRDC issued RFP for Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract with submission deadline as May 2, 2018.
