Summary
National Highway Authority-Pakistan (NHA) is undertaking the construction of a road upgrade in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan

The project involves the construction of 109.2km Authmuqam-Sharda-Kel-Taobat Road Section comprising two tunnels at Kohri and Kamsar (3.7km) and Challpani (0.6km) on Chella Bandi-Patika road project.

It includes the construction of culverts, a drainage, a pavement, bridges and related infrastructure, and the installation of signboards.

In 2013, NHA issued a request for proposal (RFP) to appoint consultants for conducting a feasibility study on the project.

In February 2016, NHA received approval from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

On May 17, 2017, NHA issued a US$59.26 million tender for construction of two tunnels on engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis with a bid submission deadline of July 11, 2017.

Construction is expected to take 36 months to complete.

On June 13, 2017, NHA held a pre-bid meeting with the 10 companies namely Sambu Construction Co.; Xinjiang Beixin; Jiang Su Haitong Construction Enqineerinq Ltd.; Matracon Pak. (Pvt) Ltd.; CRFG; Shanghai China Group - Numan Construction Co. Joint venture; Techno Engineering; Sinohydro Corporation Ltd.; China Railway 20 Bureau Group Corporation; and Zhongmei Engineering Group.
