Summary
Paradip Port Trust (PPT) is planning to undertake the New Iron Ore Berth project at Paradip Port in the Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, India.

The project involves the construction of a 370m, new iron ore berth with a handling capacity of 10 million tonne per annum (MTPA).

The project includes the construction of a berth for handling ships up to 1.25 lakh DWT, a warehouse, a parking facility and other related facilities, and the installation of mechanical equipment such as two no.s iron ore loaders 4,000 t/hrs with conveyors, drive house etc. and safety and security systems.

On May 29, 2015, Paradip Port Trust (PPT) and JSW Paradip Terminal Private Limited (JSWPTPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Steel Ltd, signed an agreement to develop the project on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis with a concession period of 30 years.

JSWPTPL will invest about US$95 million in the project while PPT will contribute the balance amount towards providing supporting infrastructure facilities.

In the first quarter of 2017, Larsen & Toubro(L&T) was awarded the construction contract.

Construction works are underway and are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2019.
