Summary
South Central Railway (SCR) is undertaking a railway line project between Kotipalli and Narsapur in Andhra Pradesh, India.
The project involves the construction of 57km railway line in three phases. First phase is between Kotipalli-Amalapuram with a length of 12km, second phase between Amalapuram-Razole with a distance of 29km and third phase between Razole-Narsapur with a distance of 16km and three bridges across ‘Gautami’, ‘Vainateya’ and Vashishta rivers.
It includes construction of railway stations and related infrastructure, the installation of lighting and signaling systems, and the laying of rail tracks
SCR board has acquired 44.51ha of land following the completion of Kakinada-Kotipalli rail line.
SCR appointed Rites Ltd as consultant.
In November 2013, RITES Ltd issued a tender for surveying agencies to undertake Topographic and hydrographic survey in connection with “Detailed Project Report for Construction of Three Important Bridges" on proposed railway line.
In 2014, the Andhra Pradesh government has presented its plans for the railway line to the Indian government for budget allocations.The Govt. of AP is contributing 25% of the project value.
In July 2014, Indian government allocated US$16.59 million in 2014-15 budgets for the land acquisition process.
In February 2016, Indian government allocated US$30 million in 2016-17 budgets for construction of Kotipalli and Mukteswaram bridge on Gautami river and for acquiring land between Amalapuram and Narsapur.
In July 2016, a tender has been issued for construction of Kotipalli and Mukteswaram Bridge of value US$39 million worth with submission deadline August 24, 2016.
On May 28, 2017, SCR issued a tender to appoint a contractor to undertake construction of a bridge across Vainateya River with a submission deadline on June 29, 2017.
As of August 2017, out of the 57km land, the 12km land acquisition has been completed and the survey is in progress for the remaining stretch.
The project takes five years for completion of the construction.
