Summary
Sembcorp Utilities UK (Sembcorp) plans to undertake the gas-fired combined cycle power plant in Teesside, County Durham, the UK.

The project involves the construction of a 1,700 MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant.

It includes the construction of a control room and instrumentation system, powerhouse, administration building, internal roads, a substation and other related infrastructure, and the installation of two gas turbine generators, two waste heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), two condensing steam turbines, hybrid cooling towers, two stacks up to 90m, black start generator (s) and dedicated stack.

DWD LLP has been appointed as planner, Environmental Resources Management Ltd (ERM) as the environmental consultant.

Mayer Brown Ltd (MB) has been appointed by ERM as traffic consultant to provide highways and transport advice in support of the construction and operation of the project.

In February 2017, a detailed environmental impact assessment is underway.

In December 2017, Sembcorp completed the detailed environmental impact assessment and public consultation report required for the submission of the Development Consent Order (DCO) application to the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Subject to approval of DCO and financial a final investment decision by Sembcorp, construction expected to commence in the second half of 2019.
