Summary
SmartCentres Real Estate Investment Trust (SmartCentres) formerly known as SmartREIT and Centrecourt are undertaking the construction of a mixed-use complex in Ontario, Canada.

The project involves the construction of mixed-use facilities on a 178ha area including 557,418m2 of office space and a 55-story residential tower comprising 553 unit, nine-story, 21,925m2 commercial tower (PwC Tower/YMCA/Library) and 3.6ha park. It is being constructed in multiple phases.

The first phase includes the construction of a 15-story, 32,850m2 tower connected to a two-story retail podium. It includes the construction of two levels of below-grade parking providing 462 spaces and an interim surface parking lot including another 322 spaces, and the installation of elevators, and safety and security systems.

KPMG, as a lead tenant, will occupy five floors and 11,250m2 of office space.

Diamond and Schmitt Architects Inc. has been appointed as architect, Vermeulens as cost consultant, IBI Group as an interior designer (KPMG Tower), Smith and Andersen as heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) contractor and Symtech Innovations Ltd as an electrical subcontractor.

The in-house division of SmartCentres is undertaking construction works.

On October 7, 2014, construction work on KPMG Tower commenced and was opened on November 17, 2016.

In April 2017, a 55 story 'Transit City Condos' was revealed as part of the development which includes 3.6ha Park. Diamond Schmitt Architects is an architect, Claude Cormier + Associates is a landscape architect and figure3 Interior Design as an interior designer for the development.

On May 23, 2017, Diamond Schmitt Architects revealed the design for Transit City Condos.

On June 28, 2017, groundbreaking ceremony was held on the commercial tower (PwC Tower/YMCA/Library) and slated for completion in 2019.
