Summary
Seoul Metropolitan Council (SMC) is planning to undertake the Sillim Light Rail Line project in Seoul, South Korea.

The project involves the construction of 7.8km light rail line connecting Yeouido and Sangdo-dong.

The project will include the construction of 11 stations, parking area, control rooms, waiting rooms and related facilities, the laying of tracks, and the installation of signaling systems.

In January 2012, the development proposals were re-initiated.

The project is planned to be developed under build-transfer-operate (BTO) pattern. Under the terms, private investors receive concessions from the government to finance, construct and operate a business for a limited time and eventually return business ownership to the government.

In September 2013, the project is in negotiations to find a private investment.

In first quarter of 2015, Daelim Industrial Consortium signed a concession agreement with the respective authority.

On September 07, 2015, a groundbreaking ceremony was held.

On October 18, 2015, construction works commenced.

On January 20, 2017, the execution plan for the main building of Slim Line was finally approved, and the actual construction started on February 3, 2017.

In November 2017, plan to change the route to the Sindhim Sunrise branch due to the problem of lowering Fornari Apartment and Shinil Happy Tree Apartment. However, construction were halted due to change in plan of route as Seoul metropolitan area and several apartment complexes are concentrated.

In the first quarter of 2018, the plan was revised and supplemented, the Seoul Gyeongdong railway nagus line was included as a branch line and a transfer passage was established at the Satchang station so that it could be linked to the West Seoul railway line.

Project is expected to be completed by February 2022.
