Summary
Summit Power Group (SPG), National Grid Carbon Ltd (NGCL) and Petrofac are jointly planning to undertake the construction of Grangemouth Carbon Capture and Storage Plant at Summit Power Caledonia IGCC, Grangemouth, the UK.

The project involves the construction of a carbon capture and storage plant. It will include the construction of an 570MW integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) facility, 351-400km pipeline, CO2 offshore storage facility and the installation of combustion chambers, generators and gas turbines.

Siemens has been appointed as supply contractor. The scope of work includes supply of gasifiers, combustion turbine and steam turbine.

The Linde Group has been appointed for the construction of air separation unit, H2S separation facility, CO2 separation facility.

Nooter/Eriksen has been appointed to supply heat recovery steam generator.

In May 2015, the Scottish Government provided US$3.7 million and the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), UK provided US$2.5 million fund for the study.

In April 2016, Arup was appointed as study consultant to provide environmental and permitting advice. The firm will be specifically responsible for conducting environmental risk assessments including air quality, ecological receptors, cooling water options, feed stock delivery as well as landscape and visual impacts.

As of April 2017, the Scottish Government has provided funding of US$2.2 million to allow the Summit Power Group to undertake substantial industrial research and feasibility studies for their proposed CCS Clean Energy Project in Grangemouth. The work is due to conclude in August 2017.

Construction works are slated for completion by 2022.
