Summary
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is planning to undertake the construction of Texas to Oklahoma City High Speed Passenger Rail project in Texas, the US.

The project involves the construction of 1,368km long railway corridor from Oklahoma City to South Texas and divided into three segments. They include: Oklahoma City to Dallas-Fort Worth; Dallas-Fort Worth to San Antonio; and San Antonio to Rio Grande Valley/Corpus Christi/Laredo (South Texas).

The rail corridor will run run through Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco, Austin, San Antonio, Laredo, Corpus Christi and Brownsville and run parallel to Interstate 35.

It includes the construction of stations, platforms, booking counters, pedestrian ways, the installation of rail tracks, signaling, telecommunication systems, safety systems.

The rail division of TxDOT has received US$5.6 million through federal grants for feasibility studies. The US$5.6 million will be shared with the State of Oklahoma, with Texas acting as the lead State.

In 2012, study activities commenced.

The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) was issued on July 15, 2016, with the public comment period between July 15, 2016 and August 29, 2016.

In January 2017, Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam (LAN) was appointed as study consultant for the project.

In June 2017, TxDOT released the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) on the project.

In November 2017, the first phase of study activities completed result determined the route would be feasible. Federal Railroad Administration gave approvals for planning to continue.
