Summary
American Institute Taiwan (AIT) is undertaking construction of American Institute New Office Complex at Neihu district in eastern Taipei city, Taiwan.

The project involves the construction of new state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly office complex over an area of 6.5ha with an office building of approximately 14,000m2.

The project also includes construction of office buildings, cultural centers, sports center, restaurants, recreational facilities, parking space and other related infrastructures.

The project will house all AIT’s Taipei facilities including the Agricultural Trade and Commercial offices, the American Cultural Center and the Chinese Language School.

The project will meet the highest standards, most of the buildings will be finished with natural stone or metal panels on the exterior, with smaller areas of glass curtain wall.

The buildings will also incorporate rainwater for irrigation of its grounds and will preserve most of the existing vegetation on the site.

The project will be developed in Phase One and Phase Two. Rear access road construction started in March 2009 and completed six to nine months after starting.

The phase One consists of site clearing and grading, construction of perimeter security systems, vehicular and pedestrian access control facilities, quarters for security personnel, maintenance buildings and surface parking and parking structure.

The phase two will consist of the design and construction of a 16,860m2, 5-level new office building, a 3,861m2, 3-level maintenance building, a 339m2 main compound access control facility, and portions of a compound for the American Institute in Taipei (AIT).

In April 2009, U.S. Department of State, Overseas Building Operations (OBO) has awarded design-build contract to Weston Solutions Inc for phase one construction works.

On September 26, 2012, American International Contractors (Special Project), Inc. has won the design-build contract for phase two construction works.

Construction commenced on the project in the second quarter of 2009.
