Summary
Although the annual number of births has remained more or less stable over the review period, the Mexican market has managed to achieve volume growth of 15.6%. This is largely due to the sound performance of the economy up to 2008, which led to higher disposable incomes among the wealthier parts of Mexican society, although the market also increased in 2010 and 2011, following a decline in 2009 as the economy faltered. In 2011, consumption stood at an estimated 75,751 tonnes, equivalent to a retail value of Pesos 12.2 billion.
