Summary
Agence de Régulation des Postes et des Communication Electroniques (ARPCE) is undertaking the development of the Central African Backbone III Optical Fiber Network project in Congo.

The project involves the construction of a 504km terrestrial optical fiber cable network with a G655-based single fiber linking Pointe-Noire and Mbinda via Dolisie, access roads and administrative buildings, and the installation of related equipment. It will be fortified with Optical Transport Network (OTN) technology, providing signal transport, management, and switching, as well as Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) which will allow first rate bidirectional communications and signal transmissions over single mode fiber. This will be connected to Gabon’s optical fiber network.

On December 15, 2014, the EPC contract was awarded to Huawei.

On December 22, 2014, the foundation stone was laid.

In June 2015 construction works commenced.

As of June 2016, the construction activities completed 90%.

Construction activities are underway.
