Edra Energy Bhd (EEB), a subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Corp is building a gas-fired power plant in Alor Gajah, Maleka, Malaysia. The project involves the construction of a 2,242MW gas-fired power plant. It will be developed in three blocks having a capacity of 747MW each. The project includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation and related infrastructure, and the installation of turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines. The project would be funded with 80% by debt financing and 20% by Edra Power shareholders’ funds.

In November 2017, 90% of the site preparatory works were completed.

Pre-construction activities are underway. Construction activities on the first block are scheduled for completion in January 2021, the second block in March 2021 and third block in May 2021.
