Report Overview
About the Vascular Stents Market
A vascular stent is a mesh-like tube of thin wires developed using stainless steel or alloys. The device helps prevent arterial blockages that may occur in people who have undergone angioplasty. It helps maintain the patency of stenotic vessels and avoid re-blockage due to blood accumulation or excessive tissue growth. It also helps treat people with cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart and peripheral vascular diseases that occur due to hypertension caused by increased smoking and alcohol consumption, unhealthy food habits, and physical inactivity. Physicians use drug-eluting stents, bare metal stents, bioabsorbable stents, or peripheral vascular stents to prevent arteries from narrowing or clogging. Vascular stenting helps avoid repeated revascularization procedures that are used to treat restenosis.
Technavio’s analysts forecast the global vascular stents market to grow at a CAGR of 7.38% during the period 2016-2020.
