Summary
Google Inc (GOOG) is undertaking the construction of New Headquarters in Mountain View, California, the US.
The project involves the construction of a 55,277m2, 33.5m high office building.
The project includes the construction of office space, conference halls, meeting rooms, reception space, multifunction room, parking space a food court area and other related facilities, and the installation of electrical and mechanical systems, automated fire safety and security system.
Google has appointed the Germany based Ingenhoven Architects to undertake the architectural design of the office building, however, this contract was cancelled and later awarded to NBBJ Design LLP.
NBBJ Design LLP has been replaced with Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and Heatherwick Studio as the architects for the project.
In August 2012, DPR Construction and Turner Construction Co were appointed as EPC contractor on the project.
On October 4, 2013, the project was placed on hold due to land and design issues.
In March 2017, GOOG received planning approvals for the project.
On June 9, 2017, groundbreaking ceremony was held on the project site.
On-site preparations for construction is underway and main construction works are expected to complete by 2019.
