The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region(MDoNER) through National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is undertaking the new Highway Development project from Numaligarh to Dibrugarh, Assam, India.

The project involves the construction of 193km, four-lane highway from Numaligarh to Dibrugarh. It will be undertaken in phases.

It will include the construction of 39.73km of four lane highway connecting Numaligarh to Jorhat, 37.8km of four lane highway connecting Jorhat to Jhanji, 44km of four lane highway connecting Jhanjhi to Demow, 26.9km of four lane highway connecting Demow to Moran Bypass and 19km of four lane highway connecting Moran Bypass to Bogibeel in Dibrugarh.

The project will include the construction of footpaths, road separators, and the installation of signaling systems, and lightening system.

In January 2012, NHAI received clearance from the centre for the project implementation and in August 2012, the Central Government approved US$380 million for the project.

Numaligarh-Jorhat section contract awarded to Hindustan Construction Company(HCC), Jorhat-Jhanji and Jhanji-Demow sections were awarded to Grupo Isolux Corsan and Demow to Moran Bypass section to Gannon Dunkerley.

Moran Bypass to Dibrugarh section was awarded to Atlanta Ltd.

Frischmann Prabhu (India) Pvt Ltd was appointed as engineering consultants for Numaligarh to Jorhat and Jorhat-Jhanji section and Voyants Solutions Pvt Ltd for Jhanji-Demow, Demow to Moran Bypass and Moran Bypass to Dibrugarh section.

Construction activities are underway on all sections.
