Summary
The Ravenna Port Authority (RPA) is planning to undertake Expansion of the port hub project in Italy.

The project involves the development of port facilities and will be developed in two stages.

The first stage includes the dredging of front port area and main port canal, achieving water depths varying from 11.5m to 14m, upgrade of 3,900m of existing quays, and the construction of a 600m terminal container quay.

The second stage includes the upgrade of existing quays in the main port canal.

In July 2012, the detailed design and technical studies activities completed.

In November 2013, European Investment Bank (EIB) agreed to extend a loan for US$167 million. However, the loan agreement was signed between EIB and RPA for the first tranche of US$37 million on December 20, 2013.

The project is facing delay due to financial and administrative issues.

In December 2017, council approved the project plans.

Pre-design activities are underway.Construction is expected to commence in February 2019.
