It includes the construction of processing units, storage units, control rooms, loading and unloading facilities and related facilities, and the installation of equipment and machinery.

In January 13, 2015, SITA held public consultations on the proposed plans.

On March 26, 2015, SITA submitted the project plans to Aberdeen City Council.

On December 14, 2015, the plans for a new recycling facility has been approved by Aberdeen council.

Morrison Construction Ltd has been appointed as contractor.

On January 5, 2016, Construction works commenced and are underway with completion scheduled by the third quarter of 2017.
