Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) plans to build the power and desalination plant in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

The project involves the construction of a desalination plant with the capacity of 1,100,000m3/day and a 3,000MW combined-cycle power plant. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation, the installation of two gas turbines, two generators, a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), a steam turbine and a dump condenser, and the laying of transmission lines.

In March 2016, the feasibility study has been completed and Sasakura Engineering Co. Ltd has expressed its interest in participating in the project as EPC contractor or sub-contractor.

Advanced Communications & Electronics Systems Co. is implementing the Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) System into the project. The scope of work involves the construction of tower foundations, a control room, and the installation of communication towers, antennas, cables and telecom equipment.

In November 2016, SWCC invited tenders for the appointment of a financial adviser.

SWCC is in the process of appointing a financial adviser for the project.
