Summary
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is undertaking the construction of a command and control facility in Hawaii, the US.
The project involves the construction of a new U.S. Army Pacific command and control facility complex on a 30,658m2 area. It will include the construction of five functional areas comprising general administration space, compartmented information facilities, a 1,100 car parking facility, and other related facilities.
The project will be developed in six phases. The first phase of the project includes the construction of a communications center, a central utility plant, a utility corridor, an arrival building, classrooms and other major site and infrastructure improvements.
In May 2010, AECOM Technology Corporation was appointed to undertake the design work.
In February 2012, Niking Corporation was appointed as EPC contractor for the first phase.
American Institute of Architects (AIA) has been appointed as architect for the second phase.
On April 10, 2012, the construction work on the first phase commenced.
In August 2015, Watts Constructors LLC was appointed as EPC contractor for the second phase.
In the fourth quarter of 2015, construction works on the first phase completed.
In the first quarter of 2016, United States Department of Defence provided US$40 million funds for the second phase of the project and construction on the second phase commenced.
On November 14, 2016, USACE issued a tender to appoint a contractor for the third phase with a submission deadline on January 6, 2017.
Hensel Phelps Construction Co appointed as a design-build contractor on September 28, 2017, for the third phase.
Construction activities on the second phases are underway. The entire project is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2018.
