Summary
The Regional Municipality of York, also known as York Region (YR) is planning to undertake a sewer line in Ontario, Canada.

The project involves the construction of a 14km sewer line from Kleinburg water pollution control plant to Humber sewage pumping station. The sewer line is divided into four segments like Northern, Western, Central and Southern.

The Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) will be used for the construction of all sewer segments.

North segment includes the construction of 4.8km sewer line between Kleinburg WRRF and Rutherford Road along Highway 27.

The western segment includes the construction of 2.8km sewer line between Huntington Road and Highway 27 along Rutherford road.

The central segment includes the construction of 7km sewer line north-south along Highway 27 from Rutherford Road to Highway 7, and then east-west from Highway 27 to the Canadian Pacific Rail (CPR) right-of-way.

The southern segment includes the construction of 1.9km sewer line north-south alignment from just south of Highway 7 to the Humber PS.

It includes the expansion of Humber sewage pumping station from 1,700 liters per second to 2,400 liters per second. It also includes the construction of connecting sewers, pumping stations, metering units, a tunnel with 3m-inner diameter and other related infrastructure.

In 2015, Geodata Engineering was appointed as a design consultant for the proposed project. The scope of the contract covers the detailed design, contract administration and site inspection services.

YR submitted the Environmental Study Report (ESR) for the project proposal and was made available for public review from January 14, 2016 to February 12, 2016.

Detail design activities are underway. Construction works are expected to commence in 2021 and are scheduled to complete by 2025.
