Summary
Argos Therapeutics (ARGS) is undertaking the construction of a headquarters and manufacturing facility in Durham, North Carolina, the US.

The project involves the construction of a 9,058m2 headquarters and manufacturing facility on 4.45ha of land. It includes the construction of an administrative facility, conference rooms, a warehouse, production units, storage units and related infrastructure, and the installation of equipment.

In August 2014, The Keith Corporation (TKC) and ARGS signed a build-to-suit agreement for the project. TKC will finance and build the project.

On October 21, 2014, construction works commenced.

The state of North Carolina, Durham County, the City of Durham, and the North Carolina Biotechnology Center contributed a total of US$9.5 million incentives for the development of the project.

The incentive package from the North Carolina Department of Commerce to support the project contributing a total of US$7.1 million, including a US$4.5 million Job Development Investment Grant, US$600,000 in education and on-the-job training assistance, a US$1.8 million sales tax exemption on qualifying equipment, and a US$200,000 Economic Development Award from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.

In addition to North Carolina Department of Commerce, the City of Durham and Durham County also awarded an incentives package contributing a total of US$2.35 million including a cash grant of US$1.85 million and US$500,000 in on-the-job training assistance.

In November 2014, Invetech was awarded a contract to develop and supply manufacturing systems to support production needs for fully personalized immunotherapies.

In January 2015, Saint-Gobain’s Performance Plastics was awarded a contract to provide design, integrate and scale production of a range of disposables for use in the automated manufacturing of AGS-003 (personalized dendritic cell-based vaccine).

In February 2015, ARGS started the process of buying the property from the developer, TKC instead of leasing.

In July 2015, ARGS purchased the land from TKC for US$7.6 million.

Construction works are underway and scheduled to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2018.
