Summary
City of Chicago (CoC) is undertaking the upgrading of an airport in Chicago, Illinois, the US.
The project involves the upgrade and remodeling of an international airport.
The project includes the construction of 7,432m2 of additional security waiting area, shopping, dining and lounge facilities and a four-story, 1,400-space parking facility, 27 security lanes, the expansion of the 18.3m wide pedestrian bridge to 91.4m and the renovation of the concession areas, stores, and restaurants.
On September 8, 2015, CoC issued a request for proposals for a contract to lease, develop, manage and operate the concessions program.
On January 25, 2017, Midway Partnership (MP), comprised of Vantage Airport Group, SSP America, and Hudson, is appointed for concessions renovation and expansion.
On June 05, 2017, a pre-bid conference will be held for terminal parking expansion; bid being held on June 27, 2017.
On April 25, 2017, bidding held for passenger security checkpoint expansion.
On May 12, 2017, Midway International Airport officially began a three-year, US$75 million modernization of the retail space.
In September 2017, CoC awarded US$89.2 million construction contract to F.H. Paschen/S.N. Nielsen for passenger security checkpoint expansion. The other only bidder — a joint venture of IHC Construction and II in One Contractors — submitted a base bid of US$91.2 million.
Construction activities are underway for concessions renovation and expansion.
