Colbún S.A. is planning to develop the San Pedro hydroelectric power plant project in Los Rios Region, Chile.
The project involves the construction of a hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 150MW, a 12km reservoir, tunnels, a powerhouse, a substation and a switchyard, the installation of generators, turbines, and the laying of transmission lines.
The project received the approval in 2008 and Colbun has started the construction work in 2009 but at the starting of 2011 construction work has been stopped due to poor rock quality.
In the first half of 2014, the company suggested some changes to the original project, while in December it requested a new permit from the environmental authority.
In June 2015, the project has again applied for approvals.
Planning works are underway.
