The Department of Public Works and Highways, Philippines (DPWH) plans to undertake the construction of a spillway tunnel connecting Laguna Lake and Manila Bay in Philippines.
The project involves the construction of an 9.2km spillway including a 3.3km tunnel with a diameter of 10 meters.
With the assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), DPWH initiated the feasibility study.
JICA committed to fund for the project in the third Philippines-Japan Joint Committee on Infrastructure Development and Economic Cooperation meeting.
As of October 2017, DPWH has yet to submit the project to NEDA for approvals.
Feasibility study activities is underway. Construction is expected to commence in 2018.
