Summary
Eco Power Holding Ltd (Eco Power) is constructing the hydroelectric power plant in Rwimi, Uganda.
The project involves the construction of a hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 5.54 MW. It includes the construction of a dam, a powerhouse, a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of two turbines, generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.
In November 2015, Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO) and Norwegian development bank, Norfund agreed to provide funding for the project. As per the agreement, BIO will provide a US$13m senior loan, while the mezzanine financing will be brought by Norfund.
Rwimi EP Company Limited is a company incorporated in Uganda as a fully owned subsidiary of EcoPower for the purpose of development and operation of a 5.54 MW Rwimi project.
In July 2015, construction works commenced and are underway. Project is expected to complete in 2018.
