Summary
Groupe Industriel des Ciments d'Algérie (GICA) is undertaking the Chlef Cement Plant Modernization project in Algeria.

The project involves the construction of new production units, clinker units, a quarrying unit, a blending unit, a drying unit, a clinker cooling unit, a packaging unit and other related facilities and the installation of machinery and safety systems.

In the second quarter of 2012, Fives FCB was awarded the EPC contract for the project; however, there is no progress in the project implementation as GICA to opt for some better equipment in terms of production rate.

In August 2014, the civil works sub-contract was awarded to Hassan Allam Construction (HAC).

In 2015 (Gica) achieved a record production of 12,143,557 tons of cement.

By 2019, Gica intends to increase production to nearly 23 million tonnes.

Construction activities are underway and will be completed in October 2017.
