Brominated and chlorinated flame retardants are grouped under halogen-containing flame retardants, while aluminum hydroxide and phosphorus-based flame retardants are grouped under nonhalogenated ones. Antimony oxide acts as a catalyst that enhances the flame retarding property of other flame retardants.
