Summary
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust (GOSHNHST) is undertaking the development of a medical facility in Greater London, the UK.

The project involves the construction of two clinical buildings on a 30,000m2 area. The project is planned to be developed in two phases, Phase 2A and Phase 2B.

The phase 2A includes the construction of a new clinical building and the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building on a 18,500m2 area.

The phase 2B includes the redevelopment and refurbishment of the current cardiac wing after the demolition of the existing building down to the fourth level. It will include the redevelopment of a seven-floor building, comprising a new surgery center to provide modern inpatient facilities, together with additional operating facilities, spacious bedrooms and bed bays.

The building will also feature a 16-bed isolation facility where children with immune system conditions or infectious diseases can be safely treated and ten additional beds for neurosciences together with modern inpatient facilities for children with respiratory conditions.

The project includes the construction of waiting rooms, a conference room, an administration facility, a cafeteria, parking facilities, other infrastructure related facilities and the installation of safety systems.

John F Hunt and BAM Construction Ltd. have been appointed as demolition and construction contractor for the Phase 2A of the project respectively.

In 2009, the project was designed by Llewelyn Davies Yeang and construction works on Phase 2A commenced in the fourth quarter.

WSP Cantor Seinuk has been appointed to as consulting engineer and Gardiner & Theobald as cost consultant for the project.

The project has received US$102 million funding from the government and US$103 million from Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

The construction work on Phase 2A was completed in June 2012.

GOSHNHST is seeking US$70 million fund to complete the Mittal Children’s Medical Center, which will see the redevelopment of the cardiac wing of the hospital.

In March 2014, Skanska UK Plc was appointed as construction contractor for the Phase 2B project.

On September 30, 2014, ground breaking ceremony was held for Phase 2B project.

Construction works on Phase 2B are underway and scheduled to be completed in November 2017.
