Summary
PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP), a joint venture of state miner PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and China Huadian Corporation is undertaking the construction of Banko Tengah Power Plant project in South Sumatra, Indonesia.

The project involves the construction of 1,240MW coal fired power plant and is planned to be implemented as two units of 620MW each.

It includes the construction of a power house, a substation, the installation of turbines, generators, transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.

In September 2012, HBAP signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with state utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

China Huadian Corporation will undertake the construction work and PTBA will supply coal with a capacity of 5.1 Million Tonnes Per Annum (TPA) for the project development.

In March 2015, HBAP entered into an agreement for US$1,200 million loan from the Export-Import Bank of China for the project.

In November 2015, groundbreaking ceremony was held on the project site; however, the construction work is yet to start.

In March 2017, HBAP is revising the purchase power agreement (PPA) due to re-route of transmission from the power plant.

Construction activities are expected to completed by 2021.
