Keyera Corporation (KEY) and Kinder Morgan Inc. (KMI) are jointly undertaking the construction of a crude oil storage terminal in Alberta, Canada.
The project involves the construction of a crude oil storage terminal with a storage capacity of 763,139 m3 per annum (4.8 million barrels per annum). It will be developed in phases. The project plans to add up to 1.8 million barrels of incremental storage capacity, subject to future demand.
It includes the construction of 12 above-ground tanks, an administrative space, storage facilities, access roads and related infrastructure, the installation of machinery, and the laying of pipelines.
It also includes the construction of a pipeline bridge over Baseline Road connecting North 40 Terminal and Edmonton South Terminal to the Base Line Terminal.
On March 31, 2015, KEY entered into a joint venture (JV) agreement with KMI for the development. The terminal will be operated by KMI. In May 2015, public consultations were held.
In the third quarter 2016, construction works commenced.
In January 2018, the first four tanks are operational with the remaining eight tanks expected to be into service throughout 2018.
