Summary
The Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation (KMD) is planning to redevelop the Government headquarters in Oslo, Norway.

The project involves the construction of 100,000m2 Government headquarters. It includes the construction of seven blocks consists of 4,500 workplaces, parks, cafes, visitor center, administration space, lounges and parking spaces, rehabilitation of existing blocks, installation of electrical systems, elevators, safety and security systems.

The Norwegian Directorate of Public Construction and Property (Statsbygg), will implement the project on behalf of KMD.

In June 2014, Statsbygg was assigned to prepare a spatial and function program. The spatial and function program involves identifying necessary functions, spaces and areas for the new government building complex to ensure a good, safe and efficient workplace. Tegn 3 and Rambøll were appointed as the consultants.

Statsbygg zoning plan was opened for public consultation from June 28, 2016 to October 31, 2016. Plan was designed by Statsbygg in cooperation with consultants: Nordic - Office of Architecture, Multiconsult, SLA, Civitas and Defense Buildings.

On June 24, 2016, Statsbygg announced a limited, interdisciplinary planning and design contest, with application submission deadline of September 15, 2016. In October 2016, Statsbygg selected seven companies and invited to participate in the competition.

The planning and design competition started in February 2017 and the participants submitted their final proposals in May 2017.

On February 10, 2017, KMD approved the zoning plan.

In November 2017, Statsbygg and Team Urbis signed the planning and design contract.

Planning activities are underway. Construction work is scheduled to commence in 2020 and slated for completion in 2027.
