The project involves the construction of an integrated health campus with a total capacity of 1,180 beds on 335,648m2 area at Kocaeli Province, Turkey.

The US$376 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of a 494-bed general hospital

2. Construction of a 124-bed cardiovascular hospital

3. Construction of a 246-bed women and children hospital

4. Construction of a 116-bed oncology hospital

5. Construction of a 100-bed physical therapy and rehabilitation hospital

6. Construction of a 100-bed high-security forensic psychiatric hospital
Summary
The Ministry of Health (MoH), Turkey is undertaking the construction of an integrated health campus in Kocaeli, Turkey.

The project involves the construction of an integrated health campus with a total capacity of 1,180 beds on 335,648m2 area.

The project includes the construction of a 494-bed general hospital, a 124-bed cardiovascular hospital, a 246-bed woman and children hospital, a 116-bed oncology hospital, a 100-bed physical therapy and rehabilitation hospital and a 100-bed high-security forensic psychiatric hospital.

The project is being developed under public, private and partnership (PPP) mode.

The project will be funded through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Export Development Canada (EDC) and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).

Árgola Arquitectos, Euroestudios and Ámbito Arquitectura have been appointed for the conceptual design work, Selda Gümüsdogra Architecture & Projects as architect and BTY Group as financial advisor and Golder Associates (Turkey) Ltd. as environmental consultant for the project.

In June 2011, MoH issued Request for Qualification (RfQ) for the project.

Nine consortia have been pre-qualified after the RfQ process. They include:

In the fourth quarter of 2012, tenders were issued with a submission deadline of February 26, 2013.

In September 2013, a joint venture of Gama Holding Inc. and Türkerler Construction was awarded the construction contract for the project.

On May 20, 2015, groundbreaking ceremony was held.

The environmental and social impact assessment (EIA) studies on the project were conducted in 2015.

In August 2016, a meeting was held on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) simultaneously site preparatory works are underway.

In October 2016, GE Healthcare has been appointed as an associated developer for the project.

In February 2017, main construction works on the project commenced and are underway with completion scheduled for 2020.
