In 2015, the legislature authorizing committee approved the project plans.
On December 13, 2017, the Michigan House of Representatives approved the funding for the project by passing the 2017-18 budget bills.
Funding will be allocated from the general fund.
Subject to approvals, construction work is expected to completed by December 2020.
