Nasarawa State Government (NSG) is undertaking the construction of a cargo airport in Nasarawa, Nigeria.
The project involves the construction of a cargo airport. It includes the construction of terminals, runways, an operations building, administrative space and related infrastructure, and the installation of safety and security systems.
The project is planned to be implemented through public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
In October 2015, NSG signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tongyi Construction Ltd for the development of the project. Tongyi Construction Ltd will provide 75% of funding and NSG will provide 25% funding for the project.
On November 21, 2015, Nasarawa State Government signed the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Tongyi Construction Ltd and a consortium of Hubei Hongyuan Power Engineering Co., Ltd (HYPEC) and Unified Engineering Co., Ltd.
On December 11, 2015, ground breaking ceremony held and construction commenced.
In June 2016, the project is facing delay due to in sufficient allocation of funds from the government.
Construction activities are underway.
